COVID-19 Vaccine Information and Update

We are not offering COVID-19 vaccine appointments at this time due to limited availability. We anticipate appointments for the updated COVID-19 vaccine will be available beginning of October 2024. In the meantime, please reach out to your local pharmacy or health department for information about COVID-19 vaccine availability. Patients with already established appointments in our primary care clinics can discuss options for receiving COVID-19 vaccine with their provider. Thank you for your patience!

Everyone 6 months of age and older should get an updated COVID-19 vaccine.

The CDC recommends everyone age 6 months and older should get the 2023-2024 updated COVID-19 vaccine. The 2023-24 updated COVID-19 vaccines more closely target the most current variants. In addition to restoring protection against COVID-19 that may have decreased over time, these updated vaccines will also be better at fighting currently circulating variants.

How can I get up to date on COVID vaccination?

Everyone age 5 and older: Get the updated COVID-19 vaccine at least 8 weeks after any previous COVID-19 vaccine.

People who are moderate or severely immunocompromised: Talk with your care team about whether you should get additional doses of the updated COVID-19 vaccine to strengthen immunity.

Children 6 months to 4 years of age: Young children who have not previously been vaccinated against COVID-19 should get two or three doses depending on which vaccine they receive. If previously vaccinated, one dose of COVID vaccine is recommended at least 8 weeks after last dose.

Scheduling a Vaccination Appointment

U-M Health offers the Pfizer vaccine.

Who: Anyone with a U-M Health medical record number (MRN). If you are not an established U-M Health patient, please call 734-936-4990 to set up an MRN before calling to schedule your appointment.

How: Appointments can be scheduled online through the MyUofMHealth patient portal. If you do not have a portal account you can schedule an appointment by calling the COVID-19 Vaccine Scheduling Call Center at 734-763-6336 Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm.

If You Have Been Vaccinated Elsewhere

If you are a U-M Health patient who has been vaccinated by a non-U-M Health provider, we ask that you update your patient record with your vaccination information. This is especially important for patients who were vaccinated through the VA or by out-of-state providers and helps ensure your vaccination records are up-to-date. View detailed instructions on how to update your patient record to include COVID-19 vaccinations from other providers.
